About us

A School Where Belonging Is the Foundation of Learning.

We built Sankofa for parents who refuse to settle — parents who want their child in a school where the adults are truly invested, where structure and accountability aren’t afterthoughts, and where every child feels safe enough to grow.
At Sankofa, your child isn’t just another seat in a classroom. They are seen. They are known. And they are held to high expectations — because we believe that’s what real care looks like.
“At Sankofa, we strive to create an atmosphere where your child is academically challenged and personally loved.”

Kindergarten

In the Kindergarten Community, our youngest learners thrive in a hands-on environment that nurtures independence, creativity, and a love for learning. Through sensorial exploration, practical life activities, and early academics, students build foundational skills with confidence. We bridge the Montessori approach with standards based instruction, ensuring students develop a strong academic foundation and the problem-solving skills needed to design more purposeful futures.

In Lower Elementary, curiosity blossoms into knowledge through collaborative, inquiry-based learning. With a focus on grade-level subjects, critical thinking, and social-emotional growth, students build independence and responsibility. We bridge Montessori philosophy with standards-based instruction, aligning student exploration with grade-level expectations to foster academic growth and real-world skills.

In Upper Elementary, students expand their independence and academic skills through project-based learning and real-world application. We bridge standards-based instruction with Montessori through targeted lessons and assessments, ensuring students master grade-level expectations while nurturing creativity and self-direction.

The Sankofa Way

Sankofa Montessori integrates standards-based learning with the Montessori approach, ensuring students meet the Georgia Standards of Excellence while learning through developmentally aligned experiences.

Our standards-based framework outlines clear grade-level expectations set by our authorizer and the Georgia Department of Education. Students build mastery through ongoing assessments, goal-setting, and learning pathways that prepare them for upper-elementary academic demands.

Montessori practices are woven into daily life at Sankofa. Mixed-age classrooms, small-group lessons, and flexible seating allow each child to learn at an appropriate pace. Students track progress in data binders, strengthening ownership and independence. In science, inquiry-based lessons encourage observation, experimentation, and real-world understanding.

Social-emotional growth is supported through Grace and Courtesy, which teaches communication, respect, and community responsibility. In Primary classrooms, Practical Life work builds concentration, coordination, and independence, forming the foundation for future academic success.

Together, these elements create a whole-child model that honors individuality while maintaining high academic expectations.

Testimonials

I want you to know that from the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank Sankofa enough for taking care of my pride and joy! Thank you for creating space and community for {him} to thrive and enjoy learning! He never complains about having to get up to get ready for school as he did with his previous school, and he is always quizzing us at home on math and spelling! Thank you, thank you! I hope we get the same, if not similar experience that Sanokofa has spoiled us with at his next school!

Thank you so much for providing us with this community. This is the first Montessori school that I have ever heard of that is tuition-free. I’m from New York where Montessori is 20,000+ a year. To our guides, We’re so grateful for you all, and we thank you for your patience this school year.
