Our name tells the story. Sankofa is an Adinkra symbol from the Akan people of West Africa — a bird that flies forward while looking back. It carries a simple but powerful truth: we learn from the past to build a better future. We carry that spirit into every classroom, every lesson, and every relationship we build with students and families.
We opened as a tuition-free public charter school because we believe that access to a high-quality, structured, caring education shouldn’t be a privilege. It should be a guarantee.
